Space
Brought to you by Design Studios, SPACE brings visionary designers, artists, and creative revolutionaries from around the world to the Nexus office. Speakers from a wide variety of fields discuss their stories, work, inspiration, and process, and share the interesting and surprising ways in which creativity impacts our lives.
The debut speaker at SPACE was world-class illustrator and podcast host Andy J. Pizza. His weekly “Creative Pep Talk” series offers tips and inspiration on reaching your creative potential and has hosted several well-known people discussing their journeys to success.
Naming Exercise
Initially called the “NAMR DS Speaker Series,” we knew that the name needed to draw attention, provoke curiosity, and create excitement amongst invitees. We began with collaborative naming exercises that helped us define the personality traits of the event. Word associations and naming categories helped us generate names with a lot of potential. Ultimately, we settled on an acronym that represents limitless possibilities and a creative environment without constraints—SPACE (Speakers Presenting Amazing Creative Endeavors).

Ideation
Creative ideation began with the logo. This design would set the tone for all future explorations. It was an opportunity to discover how the idea of “space” could come to life visually.

Final Design Direction
Vibrant geometric shapes in zero-gravity—where there are no limits to creative exploration and inspiration could strike at any moment.
Virtual Designs
The inaugural SPACE was a hybrid event so it was important to make the virtual experience captivating. We used an animated email banner and moving zoom backgrounds to create an immersive experience for those experiencing the event from home.

Environmental Designs
SPACE took over the Nexus office—reskinning the elevator doors and featuring a custom illustration of our speaker, Andy J. Pizza, on digital signage throughout the office. We also worked with a local artist to create larger-than-life balloon garlands that brought our floating geometric shapes into the real world.
